The new smoke is inspired by the story of grit, passion and survival of ACE Prime founder and co- owner Luciano Meirelles’ mother, Maria Lucia Meirelles. The late Maria Lucia was as valiant as she was brilliant, as kind as she was unashamedly bold. She was the flower that rises from cracked pavement, the beauty that survives brokenness, the redemption that overcomes tragedy. This cigar echoes the life of a complex woman who reminds us that even when all odds are against us, we nevertheless have the capacity to hold onto the light. The cigar box and band feature art by Meirelles’ oldest daughter Deborah, a Paris- based artist and fashion designer. The Maria Lucia delivers an abundance of depth and complexity, where every flavor elicits a double take from its smoker. It has a unique versatility with sweet notes of oak delivered with pleasant acidity. Its strength is medium full, with the box press construction guaranteeing an easy, smoky draw. The Maria Lucia is a 5 1/4 x 54 with a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, Sumatra Ecuador and HBN 92 Ecuador binders and Nicaragua, Dominican and Peru filler. The cigar is delivered in a 12-count box and the MSRP is $12.80. ACE Prime Maria Lucia Black Works Studio announced their second release of Hyena, hand crafted in Estelí, Nicaragua at Fabrica Oveja Negra. The Limited Edition Hyena is available at select retailers. The 2022 Hyena is bold, spicy and well-balanced with a touch more intensity than last year’s release. Showcasing a perfect balance between Nicaraguan fillers and the Cameroon wrapper, the profile is spice forward with white pepper and semi-sweet baking spices blended with herbal notes and cedar. The finish is a blend of bitter cocoa, cream and malt. Hyena 2022 will come in sizes corona gorda (5 x 46) and lonsdale (6.5 x 42) in 20-count boxes. To celebrate, GPC will introduce 1502 Aniversario 10 at the PCA 2022 show. For this blend, they are going back to their origins, using tobacco from the three countries of Ecuador, Mexico and Nicaragua that got them started with their first three blends (1502 Emerald, 1502 Ruby and 1502 Black Gold). The 1502 Aniversario 10 was blended with Abdel Fernandez at the AJ Fernandez Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, bringing something unique to the market. The wrapper is from Ecuador, the binder is from San Andr é s Mexico, and they used three different AJ farms in Nicaragua to create the perfect harmony in this blend.
