Did your attendance help you meet your business needs? If you hadn’t attended, what would it have cost you to achieve the same amount of business? If you plan things out well from the beginning and analyze after, you’ll be confident that the time you spent was well worth it. Follow up. All the great networking you just did will amount to nothing without follow-through. When you get back home, be sure to reach out to the people you met to keep the relationship going, and growing. The first few days after the show are a bit of a detox for everyone, so we suggest waiting about a week to make follow-up calls. — Attending a trade show can be wildly successful or a total flop. It all depends on whether you make the most of it. Business cards. These days, the use of business cards is not as standard as it once was, but if you have them, use them! Networking is one of the most important aspects of the show, so be prepared to make the most of it. Seminars/education. Be sure to check out the schedule of events and set reminders for the seminars and sessions you want to attend. No RSVP is required, but some may be limited in capacity so get there early so you don’t miss out. Professionalism. Show common courtesy and remember, you are representing your entire company when you’re at the trade show. Don’t linger too long at any one booth and don’t linger in conversation with a company that you have no interest in doing business with. Also, don’t interrupt others while they are talking with other attendees. Visit booths at the opportune time. Avoid approa ching booths that are jam-packed. If you go when it’s extremely busy, the chances you will get to the right person are slim. Tip: The last day is Tuesday, which is a half- day. While this is not as busy, many attendees report this is the absolute best time to get in with exhibitors. Monday would be the second- best for getting quality time with manufacturers.
