Fall 2020 PCA Magazine

PREMIUMCIGARS.ORG AUTUMN 2020 | PCA The Magazine 19 F oundation’s latest release is a two-size extension to the Tabernacle line, once again drawing on Biblical inspiration. Out of reverence for the tobacco leaf and tobacco tradition, the brand is named for the sanctuary of Hebrew scripture: The Tabernacle, which housed the Ark of the Covenant before the building of the Temple of Solomon. Foundation’s Tabernacle cigars are highly coveted for their bold, earthy profile with a natural sweetness. The David & Goliath, in kind, will feature the same rich Connecticut Broadleaf over the San Andrés binder and fillers from the Jamastrán in Honduras and the Jalapa and Estelí valleys in Nicaragua. Says Foundation’s Nick Melillo: “The Tabernacle blend in these two sizes delivers depth, complexity, body and flavor. These sizes are special because they complement an amazing blend of some of the best tobaccos in the world.” Foundation will begin shipping two new Perfectos: David 5 x 54 and Goliath 5 x 58 in 25-count boxes. Foundation Tabernacle David & Goliath Vintage Rock-A-Feller Cigars is scheduled to release a limited edition cigar that will help raise money for Phuck Cancer, a charity started by artist Jessi Flores. The cigar is a 6 x 52 toro that uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, while the binder and filler use Nicaraguan tobaccos. The cigar is produced at the Aganorsa Leaf factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. Each cigar is priced at $20 and sold in 10-count boxes. A total of 200 boxes have been produced, each signed by Flores, who designed the artwork for the release. Vintage Rock-A-Feller is donating 5 percent of sales to the charity, which was started by Flores to help fund medical expenses for his daughter, Stephanie Nicole. Flores is best known for his time at Drew Estate and its Subculture Studios, where he designed a great amount of art for the company. The cigar gets its name from Vintage Rock-A- Feller’s owner, Kevin Schweitzer, who has been a magician since he was 8, and is a member of the Society of American Magicians. The cigars are scheduled to ship at the beginning of January, barring any delays from the COVID-19 pandemic. › I N T H E H U M I D O R Each year Davidoff celebrates the Chinese New Year with a release of not only a limited edition cigar, but a whole line, with a cigar, accessories, pipe tobacco and pipes. The inspiration for the cigar line is based on the Chinese Zodiac calendar. The year 2021 is the Year of the Ox. While the accessories are not confirmed yet, Davidoff does confirm that there is a Davidoff Year of the Ox pipe tobacco coming, as well as a Davidoff Year of the Ox cigar. The cigar is a Gordo, 6 x 60. They will come in boxes of 10 and are decorated in red and gold, as those colors signify prosperity and wealth in Chinese culture. Seven different tobaccos make up the Davidoff Year of the Ox, starting with Viso from both Estelí and Condega, Nicaragua. These tobaccos, along with Yamasa Viso, San Vicente Mejorado Viso and Piloto Viso, all from the Dominican Republic, are the fillers. The binder is Ecuadorian Sumatra and the wrapper is Dominican.
