10 PCA The Magazine | SHOW 2021 PREMIUMCIGARS.ORG News + Notes N E W S + N O T E S Smoking Allowed at PCA 2021 Trade Show The Premium Cigar Association (PCA) confirmed in April that the 2021 Annual Convention & Trade Show on July 9-13, 2021, at the Sands/Venetian Resort in Las Vegas will be a smoking event. Over the past several months, the PCA has worked diligently with the Nevada government to ensure the event will be held in a safe environment while at the same time ensuring that it remain a smoking show where attendees could do business. “It was important that when our convention and trade show came back, that it was the show our manufacturers and retailers want and expect,” said John Anderson, PCA President. The PCA submitted its official “Large Gathering Venue COVID-19 Preparedness and Safety Plan” to the Department of Business and Industry’s Division of Industrial Relations for the State of Nevada, which was approved on April 6. “The approval of our plan means that we can smoke throughout the show floor, sample products, handle accessories, and conduct business during our event,” said Anderson. “And I for one cannot wait to finally be back together with all of our industry friends and partners.” PCA Executive Director Scott Pearce stated the PCA annual convention and trade show will offer show-only products that will only be available to retailers who attend the show, as well as enhanced networking and education opportunities. “We are excited to finally implement several of the changes that were going to take place in 2020, including some interesting new ways for members to provide feedback to the board during the annual meeting, and more networking time for increased relationship building,” Pearce said. Cigars for Warriors Synergy Program By Storm Boen, Chair/CEO Over the years Operation Cigars for Warriors (CFW) has had many successful programs, like our Nation Wide Event Cordinador and our worldwide Donation Centers Program. CFW’s newest success is our Synergy Program. I have had many people ask me what Synergy means and the simplest way to explain it is 1 + 1 = 3. Meaning that the sum of two entities or actions working together is greater than what the two would have produced separately. For CFW, this means working with other companies to not only take care of CFW and the partner company, but most importantly, our troops. Our first company to work with us in the Synergy Program was Janus Coffee Roasters. They have made two consumer CFW Boutique Coffee blends that anyone can buy right off their website ( januscoffeeroasters.com ). Janus Coffee Roasters are not only donating a significant portion of the proceeds to CFW, they are also donating an additional bag of the same blend to CFW so we can send it to our deployed troops. Additionally, we got to design a Retail Coffee. It's a slightly higher-end bean, a bit darker in the roast than the other two blends. Retailers can purchase this only from Janus Coffee Roasters, and only CFW Donation Centers can do the ordering. CFW, the retailer, and Janus Coffee Roasters all make money off the sales and for every bag bought by the retailer, CFW is given a bag to send to the troops. What is really neat is that Janus Coffee Roasters will handwrite the name of each person who purchases a bag on
