La Mandarria was initially a limited-edition 500- box run. The brand was born out of an unfortunate burglary that occurred in February 2019 at the Casa Cuevas Cigars distribution center in Miami. Burglars used sledgehammers to break in and steal over 25,000 units of the Casa Cuevas brands. The Cuevas family decided to mark the time where they faced and overcame adversity. “We were completely overwhelmed by the response for La Mandarria,” said Luis Cuevas Jr., president of Casa Cuevas Cigars. “This brand was a smash hit at the 2019 PCA and sales have remained strong. We are grateful to the public for accepting the product with open arms.” The Mandarria is a full-bodied, full-strength cigar that is offered in only one vitola, the 6 x 52 Toro. The size was chosen because master blender Luis Cuevas Sr. felt this vitola was a perfect balance between its strength, which is a representation of the “Mandarria” name, and the cigar’s nuanced flavors. La Mandarria will also sport a secondary band which elegantly highlights the La Mandarria logo. The cigars are wrapped in an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and feature a pig tail and shaggy foot. JRE Tobacco Rancho Luna Grandes In the Humidor › › JRE Tobacco has created a larger version of the original Rancho Luna line. The original series is made with a combination of Habano and Corojo tobacco; the Grandes are rolled in only Corojo and also have a different band. The Grandes come in two sizes: the big 7 x 64 ($7.20) and the huge 7 x 70 ($7.80). Made in Honduras at the Fabrica de Puros Aladino S.A. factory, the Grandes are loaded with only Honduran tobacco grown on the Eiroa family farms in the Jamastran Valley.
