PCA Magazine Winter 2020

PREMIUMCIGARS.ORG WINTER 2020 | PCA The Magazine 21 Crowned Heads has announced a limited-edition line extension to its Juarez line. It’s the first extension to the Juarez line since it made its debut in 2018. Shots XX is a petite Robusto measuring 4 x 50. The Juarez was originally released as an exclusive cigar, but at the 2019 PCA trade show, it was made available as a national release. Juarez comes from a factory called Tabacalera Pichardo, which is the same factory behind some of the high-profile A.C.E. Prime releases. Shots XX uses the same blend as the regular production offerings in the Juarez line. This includes a San Andres Mexican wrapper, Ecuadorian Sumatra binder, and a combination of Nicaraguan and Dominican filler. The cigars are packaged in 50-count boxes and a total of 500 boxes (25,000 cigars) were made. Pricing is set at $5.45 per single. The XX refers to the fact that the cigar is a 2020 release. Meanwhile, the name “Shots” refers to the small size of the cigar. Similar to the Jericho Hill line, Juarez was inspired by Johnny Cash’s rendition of “Cocaine Blues” on his album “At Folsom Prison.” For more information visit crownedheads.com . Originally, this release was slated for November 2019 with the name Stolen Valor. That name was chosen because it was not Steve Saka who blended the cigar, but Raul Disla. Since Saka decided to give Disla the credit he deserves, he changed the name to Unstolen Valor. Disla is the manager of Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust uses NACSA for the production of some of its lines. Disla made four blends on the request of Saka, and Saka picked the one he liked most for this Muestra de Saka release: Unstolen Valor. The cigar is a 6 x 52 Toro. It’s a Nicaraguan puro and all the tobacco is Cuban seed. Release of Unstolen Valor is scheduled for sometime in the spring. The Muestra de Saka cigars are released in limited quantities throughout the year. Production and price point are pending. For more information visit dunbartoncigars.com . Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Unstolen Valor › P unch will kick off The Year of The Rat with the launch of a limited- edition smoke called Punch Chop Suey, a follow-up to 2019’s wildly successful Punch Egg Roll cigar. “We had a lot of fun with Punch Egg Roll last year so we decided to come out with a similar release for 2020,” said Ed Lahmann, senior brand manager of Punch and the creator of Chop Suey. “With its panatela size, this cigar delivers a great smoking experience in a format that really lets the tobaccos shine through. And with an SRP of less than $6 per cigar, Chop Suey hits that post-holiday sweet spot for cigar lovers.” Handmade at General Cigar Dominicana in Santiago, Dominican Republic, Punch Chop Suey is made with a Nicaraguan and Dominican blend and has a Nicaraguan binder with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. It will be available in one size only, a 7 x 37 ($5.49 SRP) panatela with a 1-inch shaggy foot. The cigars come in 25-count bundles placed inside a Chinese food takeout-style box with a shout-out to the Year of the Rat. The inside of the band features a fortune courtesy of Mr. Punch, and there are five fortunes in total. Chop Suey will debuted at brick-and-mortar locations across the country in February and will be limited to 3,650 bundles. For more information visit punchcigars.com .
